Festival of Trees 2009

It's time once again for all of you good little girls and boys to come to the Festival of Trees at the Leopold Crystal Ballroom, 1224 Cornwall Ave. here in Bellingham on Dec. 5. Here is one of my auction items I will be donating. It can be yours if you come and bid on it in the Silent Auction. There will be loads of great stuff from a handmade shawl by Deborah Moskowitz to BizProv classes courtesy of The UpFront Theatre. Call 733-6714 for details!

We All Fall Down

Windows rattled and sweaters ruled today as Fall sent an early greeting. Even though summer isn't over, I'm eying glittery skulls and pumpkins and contacting potential donors for the Festival of Trees Gala Dinner and auction, slated for Dec. 5. The Unmistakables had a great show last week (my improv group). I encourage everyone to check us out at The RiverBelle Theatre in Mt. Vernon on Wednesday nights. Cheaper than the movies and way more fun. It's just $5. Meanwhile, I continue to plug away at The Upfront and even got into one of their ads in The Bellingham Business Journal this week. Go Improv! And check out Restoration Hardware's new collection! Viva la France - but don't forget your sash.

Nascar Ninny

Someone took a wild ride in my yard Tuesday morning around 11 a.m. How exactly they left the road, sheared off my mailbox (and the neighbors), hit three trees and ricocheted into another neighbor's fence is a mystery. Just like in the movies, "Nobody saw nuthin!" Hopefully the trees that I have put so much tender love and care into will survive. Parts of the car left behind by the hit-and-run driver indicate it was an older Lincoln Continental, possible blue or gray. Hopefully it scared them enough to quit drinking or driving. Thank goodness my new circle in the back (I finally cleared out) was untouched.

Sunny Summer Day

Yes it does rain almost two-thirds of the year, but when it's nice - wow! If I don't have leaves in my hair May through September, you know I just don't feel right.

Outdoor Chairs Get a Modern Facelift!

If you can believe it, these are two, five dollar plastic chairs originally in plain gray. I purchased a set of sticker images sheets from IKEA for $5.00, positioned them onto the chairs, and spray painted them my desired colors. When the paint was dry and the stickers were peeled away, they presented a unique modern twist to otherwise drab outdoor furniture!

The chairs now reside at my daughter's new home. It's amazing what a bit of spray paint and stickers can do!

Here Comes the Bride...

The summer typically offers more weddings than you can shake a stick at! I am currently digging Paper Relics (www.paperrelics.com) site for unique wedding wishes!

I Heart Anatomy!

Check out this creepy, albeit lovely, piece my daughter made me for my Birthday last week. Taken from an anatomy book, she scanned in a man's face and superimposed an overlay of a skull image via Photoshop. She used Anna Griffin Coral vellum scrapbooking paper for the background, and finally a clear acrylic overlay with a vintagey scalloped frame. Garish and cool my daughter Hayley is!
